HELP PROTECT THESE PRISTINE ISLANDS IN AN AREA OF NEW CONSERVATION INTEREST

Harbour and Prices Islands consist of several small undeveloped islands spanning 370 acres just outside Canso, Nova Scotia. They are close to several protected areas, including the Bonnet Lake Barrens Wilderness Area and Canso Coastal Barrens Wilderness Area, Cooeycoff Lake Provincial Park and Black Duck Cove Provincial Park, and the Sugar Harbour Islands Nature Reserve.

Harbour and Prices Islands support coastal barrens, softwood forest, and peatlands, with Harbour Island known to support hundreds of breeding gulls and a small Great Blue Heron rookery. Eiders are known to nest on nearby islands, and Harlequin Ducks use coastal waters in the area during the non-breeding season. The property is located within the Country Harbour Headlands Coastal segment, where less than 5% of islands currently benefit from some level of formal protection.
