Silver Anniversary Dinner & Auction

30 Oct 2019

A big thank you to all those who supported our Silver Anniversary Dinner & Auction on Thursday, October 17. The night was a huge success – David Rumsey was presented with the Nature Trust Conservation Award and more than 530 guests helped to raise over $120,000 in support of the Nature Trust! More than the money raised was the feeling of warmth and connection that pervaded the evening. The night was an opportunity for old friends and colleagues to reconnect, and for new connections to be seeded in the mutual love of nature. If you were there with us, we hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. And if you weren’t able to make it this year, we hope to see you there next year – October 22, 2020 – save the date!

For a peak into the magic of the evening that was, we’ve created a photographic journey through the event. Special thanks to the event photographer, Jenn Nauss of Cooked Photography, who generously donated her time and beautiful photographs.

Dinner volunteers did a beautiful job assembling the silver branch centerpieces.
Many thanks to our Dinner partners: Freeman Group, IG Private Wealth Management as our Presenting Partner; Farnell Packaging Ltd. as our Conservation Hero; and the Trail Shop as our Conservation Friend.
There were over 70 outstanding lots at the silent auction this year – thank you to all those businesses, artists and individuals who donated items!

Our MC for the evening, Jayson Baxter of CTV News Atlantic, kept the evening skipping along, providing impromptu voice-overs for videos and side notes that added a special warmth and intimacy to the evening - thank you Jayson!
Peter Freeman of Freeman Group, IG Private Wealth Management, who was our Presenting Partner for the Dinner. Peter is also a Nature Trust land donor and gave a moving speech during the evening about his childhood memories canoeing on Hog Lake. Thank you for your support Peter!

Our hearts were warmed to see a room full of nature lovers! It was a delight to catch-up with old friends and a pleasure to meet new people with common interests.
Thank you to all those who travelled from across the province to spend the evening celebrating with us, like our friends from the St. Mary’s River.
This year’s conservation award was given to David Rumsey, who was instrumental in protecting over 2,000 acres of the Mabou Highlands.
