Our Nature, Our Future: The Nature Trust’s 2026 Conservation Showcase

Every year the Nature Trust hosts a Conservation Showcase to celebrate the incredible nature that is protected forever, thanks to your support. It’s an opportunity to share milestones and achievements from the previous year and reaffirm our commitment to the conservation work yet to come.

This year’s showcase coincided with the International Day for Biodiversity (observed annually on May 22), and we took the opportunity to engage guests in hands-on activities to explore just a few of the ways that the Nature Trust is working to protect Nova Scotia’s precious biodiversity.

It was also wonderful to celebrate this year’s conservation of Cape Lahave Island in partnership with the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg (MODL) and we are grateful to Mayor Elspeth McLean-Wile for her remarks on the island and this invaluable partnership.

This event would not have been possible without our generous partners and sponsors. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, East Coast Credit Union, and to Tyler Conway for speaking about their commitment to the environment and to community across Nova Scotia.

We are also grateful to our Hospitality Sponsor Stewart McKelvey and to Ducks Crossing for the lovely wine samplings. Many thanks to our Activation Sponsors for making possible some hands-on learning and fun: Hillside Consulting Ltd., DesignPoint Engineering & Surveying Ltd., Fillier Land Surveys Ltd. Berrigan Surveys Ltd, and Deloitte. And of course, thank you to our raffle sponsor, Patagonia Halifax for contributing amazing raffle items for the evening!

We’re so grateful to everyone who attended this event! We were also amazed at how quickly the available seats filled up, and we’re taking notes for next year to make sure we can accommodate even more of our wonderful community. In the meantime, please keep an eye on our upcoming events page for more Nature Trust events on the horizon – we hope to celebrate with you somewhere soon!

The future of Nova Scotia’s nature is in our collective hands. The achievements of today are the foundation of a healthy intact natural world for tomorrow, and for generations to come.

Whether or not you were able to attend this event, thank you for all that you do to support the Nature Trust. You are what makes all of this work possible, and we are grateful to share this journey with you.
