Be part of the Adventure of a Lifetime
11 Dec 2017
The Nature Trust is recruiting for the third Expedition for the Earth fundraising trek to Ecuador in September 2018! The expedition is a fundraising trek, and all funds raised go directly toward our land conservation efforts in Nova Scotia. Several participants have already signed up – why not join them and be part of the adventure?
Adventurers will explore the upper Amazon, cloud forests and Andean peaks of Northern Ecuador. This bucket-list trip is accessible to a wide range of people, and previous trekking or international travel experience is not necessary. The trip will be expertly guided by Wally Berg of Berg Adventures International, who has extensive experience guiding countless treks around the world. Wally is an accomplished mountaineer and has completed several ascents of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest. Berg loves bringing the power and magic of adventure to his clients.
“I am thrilled to partner with the Nature Trust once again and to bring adventurers to one of my favorite places in the world- Ecuador. The rich diversity is every nature-lover’s dream, and the lush, green landscapes are breathtakingly beautiful. This truly is the experience of a lifetime,” said Wally Berg.
Berg Adventures International led both of the Nature Trust’s previous Expedition for the Earth adventures to Patagonia in 2013 and Iceland in 2016. Together, the treks have raised over $100,000 in support of land conservation in Nova Scotia.
The first person to sign-up for the Expedition for the Earth adventure trek to Ecuador in 2018 is two-time Expedition participant Henry Fuller. Henry has taken part in both of the Nature Trust’s previous treks, and at 72 Henry is celebrating 20 years as a Nature Trust board member by participating in the adventure. Henry hopes that by signing up he inspires others to join: “Travelling to protected places around the world and seeing their diversity is truly inspiring. It makes you appreciate what we have right here in Nova Scotia and how important it is to protect it. The chance to help protect special places in Nova Scotia while visiting a part of the world that has always been on my bucket list is an opportunity I would not miss.”
Also, newly added is an optional extension to the Galapagos Islands. This trip can be arranged directly with Berg Adventures as an add-on to the Expedition. This sightseeing cruise aboard the beautiful Coral II offers an unforgettable experience exploring the archipelago. The Galapagos are one of the best wildlife-viewing opportunities in the world with many species only found on the islands including Marine Iguanas, Galapagos Penguins and Giant Tortoise.
The Nature Trust is inviting passionate outdoor enthusiasts to join Berg Adventures International from September 22-29, 2018 for the Expedition to the Earth in Ecuador.
The deadline to register is March 1st, however registration is encouraged as soon as possible.
