Celebration of the Coast

14th Annual Dinner & Auction

September 28, 2011
Reception 5:30pm, Dinner 7:00pm
World Trade & Convention Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Nova Scotia Nature Trust hosted their 14th Annual Dinner & Auction on September 28, 2011 at the World Trade & Convention Centre in Halifax.  The evening featured a coastal theme, incorporating many of Nova Scotia’s native birds, setting the tone for the event.

Guests were moved by a photographic presentation by renowned photojournalist, Len Wagg, illustrating through stunning pictures and sounds the life-changing experience of spending 100 days in the wild.  Guests were also treated to the incredible artistic talent of Holly Carr, who created a fantastic silk painting live, incorporating memories of nature from event attendees.

One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the 2011 Nature Trust Conservation Award.  This year’s recipients were Dr. Tom Herman and Acadia University for their vision and commitment to protecting some of their most unique and ecologically significant properties through a partnership with the Nature Trust.  This partnership marks the first of its kind in Canada.  The pilot property to be protected through this ground-breaking partnership will be Bon Portage Island, one of Nova Scotia’s last large, undeveloped coastal islands and a critical refuge for birds.  You can find out more about this campaign at our Bon Portage Campaign page.

The Annual Dinner & Auction is made possible through the generosity of our sponsors.  This year the Nature Trust was once again thrilled to welcome back Michelin as our Presenting Sponsor for a 6th year and greatly appreciative of their generous long-time commitment to supporting the efforts of the Nature Trust.  We are very grateful for the generous support of Gold Sponsor TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Silver Sponsor East Port Energy and Bronze Sponsor Labatt.  We also want to give special thanks to in-kind sponsors The Printer, Lite 92.9 and Frischkorn Audiovisual.
