Meadow Brook Conservation Lands (Purchase)
Significance
Critically important habitat for the Blanding's turtle
Details
This property was acquired in 2008 and supports 52 acres of nationally significant habitat for the endangered Blanding's turtle. Nova Scotia's population of Blanding's turtles is extremely small and isolated to a few spots in the southwest of the province. This site is listed as one of the most important, provincially.
As part of the Nature Trust's "Lands & Legacies" partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia, ownership of this site has been transferred to the Crown for management and stewardship as a Nature Reserve.
