This 30 acre parcel of land, near Purcell’s Cove, encompasses unusually diverse wildlife habitats ranging from rugged granite coastal headlands, undeveloped shorelines contained within undisturbed watersheds, bogs, granite barrens, freshwater lakes and a developing hardwood forests.

“This land donation is a major conservation success story for Nova Scotians, the Halifax Regional Municipality and the Nova Scotia Nature Trust”, said Bonnie Sutherland, Executive Director of the Nature Trust. “By entrusting their valued family land to the Trust, the Field family leaves an ecological legacy that will benefit and be appreciated by many future generations of Nova Scotians, especially as development rates increase around the Halifax area”.
