Nova Scotia Nature Trust 19th Annual Dinner & Auction
Our 19th Annual Dinner and Auction was filled with inspiration - including a beautiful and moving talk by Peter Forbes, and many conservation successes to celebrate.
Thanks to everyone that took part in our Annual Dinner and Auction, together we raised over $45,000 in support of our work protecting Nova Scotia’s incredible natural legacy.
We celebrated the achievements of the past year including a milestone in the 100 Wild Islands Campaign, with $7 million raised and 80% protected to date. The 100 Wild Islands Campaign Team was honored with the 2016 Conservation Award in recognition of their incredible accomplisments on the Campaign. We also had the pleasure of celebrating the protection of Partridge Island, a group of wonderful bird conservation sites donated by the Nova Scotia Bird Society Sanctuary Trust, the generous donation of Laybolt and Witchwood Islands in the 100 Wild Islands archipelago, as well as other conservation successes made possible with your support.
For 22 years, the Nature Trust has worked to protect some of the most special and ecologically rich places across the province. By attending our annual dinner, you helped to raise critical funds and critical awareness for land conservation in Nova Scotia.
Peter Forbes said that evening, “Few forces will have as much effect on the course of our lives, our cities, our communities as the quality of that relationship between soul and soil…If 100 years from now there remain wild places for black bear and lynx and there are still places for our kids to roam, then there will still be people who cling to this earth, and it will be because your work grew and people you never expected were drawn to work alongside you.”
Thank you for joining us to celebrate the spirit of place, and supporting our efforts in saving wild places!
