Annual Dinner & Silent Auction
On Saturday, October 23rd, 2004, the Nova Scotia Nature Trust celebrated its
10th year anniversary by hosting an evening with comedian Bette MacDonald and
special guests, featuring a dinner and silent auction of art pieces, scenic
vacations, and many unique items. The entertainment for the evening was a comedy/musical
performance entitled, "Talk Live with Bette MacDonald" starring Bette MacDonald
with special guests: Irwin Barker (This Hour Has 22 Minutes staff writer, comedian),
John Theodore Trio (musicians), Maynard Morrison (comedian), and Bruce Guthro
(singer, songwriter)
Bette MacDonald is known as the Comedy Queen of Maritime Canada. For many years the headliner of the Cape Breton Summertime Revue, she is a Gemini Award-winner for her performance in the 2002 Halifax Comedy Fest, and has appeared on CBC Television with The Bette Show and Rideau Hall. She has toured Eastern Canada many times with her own one-woman show, selling out theatres and receiving critical raves.
Bette's large, loyal following is a testament to her ability to connect with people of virtually any age of background. Critics have referred to her "impeccable timing", her "warmth and universal appeal" and have called her a "comic genius and one of Canada's finest comedians."
Many thanks to the sponsors of this event and to all who attended and helped to make the evening a success. Stay tuned for details of the 8th Annual Dinner & Silent Auction to take place Fall 2005.
