Earth Month 2009
Celebrating its 31st anniversary, Aveda will hold their annual Earth Month campaign in April 2009. This year's campaign will unite Aveda's network professionals and guests for a single cause: to protect clean water. Aveda Earth Month calls for strategic local/global action to protect local waterways, empower communities and help make clean water accessible to everyone. Aveda aims to raise $3 million to help protect clean water at home and abroad.

Atlantic Canada Campaign
The Atlantic Canada Aveda Earth Month partner for 2009 is the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. This is the 3rd year the Nature Trust and Aveda have partnered for Earth Month. Past support through the Earth Month campaign has helped to protect five conservation sites providing irreplaceable habitat for nationally endangered species. Earth Month funds have also enabled a grassroots conservation education program, and hands-on land stewardship opportunities for community volunteers.
This year's theme is "Protecting Clean Water through Land Conservation". Funds raised will help the Nature Trust in preserving important habitat along our lakes, rivers and coastline - habitat that is essential to protecting clean water and healthy ecosystems.

Participate in Earth Month 2009
This Earth Month, help Aveda and the Nova Scotia Nature Trust to protect these clean water sources for us all to enjoy!
Major events:
- Walk for Water - Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, Earth Day, April 22nd , meet in the upper parking lot
Sponsor your local salon, or come out and participate yourself! More on the Walk for Water - when, where, how to sign up.
- Appointments for the Earth
Select salons through Nova Scotia and the Maritimes are participating in this initiative, which puts a portion of the cost for your salon appointment towards the Earth Month campaign. Please see list of salon activities for this great way to give while you get!
- Raffle for Water (FREE to enter)
First prize is an Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia excursion, including a stay at the Delft Haus B&B Inn, and the opportunity to explore the Nature Trust’s Wolfville Watershed Nature Preserve (and see first hand “protecting clean water through land conservation”). The second prize is a Nature Trust gift package (Nature Trust notecards, T-shirt, hat and Frisbee, musical CD and Farley Mowat DVD). Third prize is an Aveda basket.
